Saptamsha and Intelligence
Intelligence can be defined as the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. It can be mental capacity, power of reasoning to make life better. The sphere of intelligence is various and depends on the sphere of activity of a person.
Saptamsha is the divisional chart to ascertain the intelligence of a person. Lagna of Saptamsha is the indicator of the desires toward the knowledge and the lord of lagna is the way of fulfilling it. Fifth house is the house of intelligence.
We give some observations to assess the intelligence of a person.
- Lagna of Saptamsha will be generally strong in the chart of an intelligent person. An afflicted lagna is not desired as it gives perverted and destructive thoughts.
- Raj yoga’s present in the Saptamsha gives superior intelligence. However if these are spoiled by malefic association the quality of yoga deteriorates. The use of this intelligence is decided by lagna.
- Fifth house should be strong to possess intelligence.
- Presence or aspect of malefic in fifth house will use the intelligence in wrong way and for evil cause. If the malefic is lagna or fifth lord of Saptamsha then it will benefit the fifth house. A malefic fifth house will make the person selfish.
The strength of these factors determines the intelligence level. Everyone is intelligent for his purpose and sense. Only the level and direction of its utilization varies.
We will discuss few horoscopes to see its application.
Example. DOB 7 October 1974, TOB 17.20, POB Delhi
This chart belongs to a young man who always lived in delirium. He jumped from roof. In short he was not able to use his information and knowledge.
In Saptamsha lagna is in papa kartari and not aspected by any planet. Lagna lord is in eighth house with sixth lord Jupiter. The positive point is placement of ninth lord in fourth house. It is aspected by Saturn and malefic Jupiter. Fifth house is aspected by Mars giving violence.
Example D. V. Subbarao DOB 15 January 1910, TOB 04.54, POB Eluru
He was a famous astrologer. He was blind but with his sharp intelligence he took astrology to a new level.
Lagna is aspected by eighth lord Sun. Ninth lord and seventh lord are in mutual aspect giving Kendra trikona yoga. Mercury is aspected by its sign dispositor Mars giving logic. Moon is exalted in fifth house. Venus is yoga karaka and is exalted.
Example Ma Anandmayima DOB 1 May 1896, TOB 03.01.30, POB Kheora
No introduction is required for Ma. Ninth, fifth, fourth and seventh lords are together causing a great yoga. Lagna is aspected by them. The lagna is strong. Normally we will say that the children are good for this chart. She had many worthy disciples. Fifth house is aspected by debilitate Mars giving agitation.
Example Jeffery Dahmer DOB 21 May 1960, TOB 16.30, POB Milwaukee USA
He was an American serial killer. In Saptamsha lagna is occupied by Ketu and is aspected by eighth lord Jupiter. Jupiter is fifth lord also which gave him sharpness of thought. Jupiter is aspected by Saturn and this Jupiter is destructive. An afflicted Jupiter is worse than a malefic. Fifth house has Mars and Sun combination. It is ninth and lagna lord united. This shows sharp intelligence but violent also. Moon is also aspected by yoga karaka and strong Mars showing the mental determination.
Example Narendra Modi DOB 17 September 1950, TOB 12.09, POB Vadnagar
Lagna of Saptamsha is aspected by Saturn and Mars. It gives aggression and agitation with deep thinking. Mars is Yoga karaka. Saturn influence is not fully positive. Mars and Venus are in mutual aspect as ninth and tenth lords and exchange houses also. Three planets are in own sign.
